TEXT:
Paco Rabanne was born in Spain in 1934. He is a famous stylist all over the world and in 1967 he created a coat which is out of the ordinary. It is made of steel rings with connected steel triangle plates.
Inside, the wool supports the outside structure. In this picture the model is wearing a quilted balaclava and a collar of the same material which is a reminder of the knights armors which are represented here with the steel rings just like the chain mail which protected knights. He wanted to break the structure of fashion with this new idea. He worked with the material in particular steel. The triangular shape was inspired by optical art which started in the early 1960s. This style of visual art was based not only on optical illusion but also on geometrical shapes. Paco Rabanne created a whole collection made of steel.
