A rough is a fast and crude drawing in colors which shows the lights, the shadows, the shape of an object or an architecture. There is a light and transparency work. It's a preliminary sketch of a design or picture draft sketch. It's intended to give the customer or the designer a visual outline of an illustration, a layout, a project or an object. The rough has to feign a photography before this one is actually taken. It's treated by the rough man in a design studio to realize models, storyboards... It's made with watercolors, brush, flat brush, pencil, ranges of felt-tip pens on paper supports intended for this purpose. It has to re-transcribe the effect of the material the object is made of.
