Text :
Ergonomics is the study of designing equipment and devices that fit the human body and its cognitive abilities.Ergonomics is used to fulfill the two goals of health and productivity.
It is relevant in the design of such things as safe furniture and easy to use interfaces of machines and equipment.
Proper ergonomics design is necessary to prevent repetitive strains, which can develop over time and can lead to long term disability.
For instance :
Power grip : The hand grip that provides maximum hand power. All the fingers wrap around the handle. Then, there is the precision grip. The precision grip is when the intermediate and distal phalanges ("fingertips") and the thumb press against each other. Examples of a precision grip are writing with a pencil, opening a jar with the fingertips alone, and gripping a ball.
Contact pressure : pressure from a hard surface, point or edge on any part of the body.
Pinch grip : the hand grip that provides control for precision. The tool is gripped between the thumb and the finger tips.
Vocabulary :
Study of designing : étude de la conception
Equipment and devices : équipement et dispositifs
Cognitive abilities : capacité cognitive
Proper ergonomics design : une bonne ergonomie de conception
Repetitive strains : micro-traumatismes répétés
The hand grip : la poignée de main
Hand power : force de la main
The precision grip : la prise de précision
Contact pressure : contactez-pression
Pinch grip : prise en pince
